The St. Lawrence river valley is called the 4th. Coast, separating the United States of America with Canada.

The river runs north from the Great lakes (Ontario) to the Atlantic Ocean.

A G5RV Jr. antenna was used at the QTH to the left, a shortened version of the G5RV by half, both in dipole length and in ribbon cable. Surprisingly, the antenna tuned from 80 to 10 meters minus the 17 meter band with the built-in antenna tuner from the Kenwood TS-570.The antenna was supported by a 40 foot fiberglass pushup pole.

This was my original QTH when first licensed in 1965 at the age of 16.

The Franklin D. Roosevelt Power Dam, located in Massena, is the third largest hydroelectric power dam in North America. It is third to the Hoover Dam in Nevada and then to the Niagra Dam near Buffalo, New York. The dam consists of 32 generating units, 16 of which are owned and operated by the Power Authority of the State of New York, shown to the left and 16 units operated by Ontario Hydroelectric, shown to the right.

The station to the left is a Kenwood TS-570, the rig I used while portable in Massena.

A ship passing through the Eisenhower Lock on it's way up river. Note the causeway (underpass) which allows traffic to and from Barnhart Island where the Power Dam is located.
